The AIRMASTER System was designed for heavy duty use, and has a built-in air accumulator tank to eliminate pulsation. Preferred choice of high volume and in-store bakeries. Only airbrush coloring may be used in the airbrush system due to their delicate inter parts.
.TIP: Do not remove the seal from the bottle, simply poke a small hole in the seal and your bottle will not leak!

The brand of colors is not as important as to what colors are included in your first set. I assume you are buying a set as it is much less costly if you do. Start off with just the 2 oz. colors. They go a LONG way. If you find you use more of some colors, buy them in a larger size as you need them and just fill your smaller bottles from the larger. That way, you are only having to handle a small bottle when you are busy airbrushing. Just make sure you use only colors that are made for an airbrush. Do not use liquid paste or regular liquid colors. They contain fibers called cellulose and they can ruin your airbrush after awhile. I just wash my airbrush with water and use an old tube brush (the end that looks like a paint brush) if I use white. White has a tendency to clog the airbrush so make sure you clean it well if you use white. (Personally, I like the colors that come in the Kroma-Kolors set. Some other sets have colors that you wouldn't need much, but see what each one has to offer.)

Choco White Airbrush Color

Used as a bearer for darker chocolate transferring, moulding and printing. Lay chocolate transfer sheet face up or into a chocolate candy mold. Airbrush Choco White directly over the cocoa butter. Apply compound coating with a straight edge, a piping bag or lay dipped cookies directly on to the Choco White sprayed transfer side. Allow to set-up then peal away backing. Choco White may also be used with edible ink printing on Chocolate Transfer Sheets in printers (Cannon IP4700 or Espon C88PLUS) that have a T-Shirt setting. Print, spray then add chocolate.

How to use:
In order to achieve a shimmery appearance, these colors must be applied to the surface of your icing or other product (such as gumpaste or fondant). Mixing the color into icing just won't do the trick.

Either spray the color on with an airbrush, or use a paintbrush to paint onto dried decorations.

Note: The particle size of this product is larger, so you may need to adjust your airbrush needle (please refer to your airbrush manufacturers instructions for this). Make sure to rinse thoroughly between applications as you don't want the product to dry in your airbrush (just as you would do for any other color product).

Note from a very well known Airbrush expert/teacher: , 'save up and buy an Airmaster'. I have had several airbrushes and this one is far superior to the others. I would advise you to NOT buy one from a hobby shop. These are not made for doing cakes and after you fell in love with airbrushing, as I'm sure you will, you would just have to go out and get an Airmaster after all. I have had a lot of students who have come to class with either hobby type airbrushes or one of the other airbrushes (the name of which I will not mention here) but it is made of plastic, and they have purchased an Airmaster when they see the difference in what they are doing and what the students with the Airmaster are doing. The compressor is what makes the biggest difference. The airbrushes that come with a small compressor are ok if you are going to use it a couple of times a year. But if you will be doing cakes for customers with it, get the good one. You will not regret it. And you don't want your customers to be disappointed in your cakes because the color is all speckle because of the small compressor you are using. You want them to come back. And if the cakes look good, they will come back. Again, get the good one! Best of luck, Carole Faxon

From Marida: Airmaster. You can airbrush petal dusts through it by adding Everclear to a small bottle of dust. I use the 2 oz. bottles and add one container of the dust. You can practice with the airbrush by using some designed paper towels and filling in the designs. There are also some good books by Carol Faxon on airbrushing.

From George F: I mix two containers of luster dust or super pearl dust in a 2 ounce plastic bottle and fill with vodka. Shake very well and each time before you fill the well of the airbrush. I use an Airmaster and turn the pressure up when airbrushing with luster dust/vodka mixtures. Be sure to clean your airbrush well each time you use it. So far, I have not had trouble with the needle clogging.

In reply to whether this works, reply by Jennifer on the message board: Don't worry- the airmaster is the best system. It will work with all colors and dusts. Well, it doesn't like petal dusts, but they aren't really meant to be used with an airbrush anyway! All of those gold and silver dusts will go through- no problem. It may clog occasionally, but you just pull the needle out a little and it will clear up.
